NBA to Investigate Jay-Z's visit with Kentucky

      

    As we all know hip hop great Jay-Z is part owner of The New Jersey Nets. This past weekend Jay-Z attended Kentucky's Elite 8 game in the NCAA tournament and afterwards was photographed and videotaped congratulating Kentuck players in the locker room. Kentucky has two players in Brandon Knight and Terrance Jones who are big NBA prospects and projected lottery picks so this does not sit well with the NBA that Jay-Z being a part owner is interacting with these players before they have ended their collegiate careers and put their name into the draft. The NBA will investigate this incident although it does not seem like a penalty will be put in place.... Its pretty cool when Hip Hop and sport collide.

Bronx's Finest : Mickey Factz

One of the dopest artists NY has to offer is Mickey Factz. Hailing from The Bronx, Mickey has been killing the mixtape game for the last couple years and is now getting recognized for his hard work. He was featured in 2009's XXL's Freshman issue and has had a couple of videos in rotation on MTV, as well as being a Honda spokeperson. Signed to Jive records, Factz has an album slated to drop later this year entitled "The Achievement" and just recently dropped his latest mixtape Love.Lust.Lost. which is one of his greatest works to date. This season Derrick Rose has gone from an all-star level player to a superstar, in doing so The Chicago Bulls have risen to the top of the Eastern Conference ahead of teams like Boston, Miami, and Orlando. With averages of 24 points, 7 assists, and 4 rebounds, Rose is tearing up the opponent's defense. In a league where it seems like every great team has 2 to 3 all stars, Chicago has one lone star in Rose and a superb supporting cast all the more reason why Derrick Rose has my vote for MVP.

Kendrick Lamar is a young up and coming MC, from the city of compton. Formerly known as K.Dot, Lamar has gained a buzz by rapping alongside fellow LA artists such as Jay Rock, Glasses Malone and The Game. He was recently included in XXL's annual freshmen issue which pays attention to the best young MC's from all over the country making a name for themselves. He has a unique flow and gritty lyrics, definately an artist to watch out for.

What is Hip-Hop ?

What is Hip-Hop? A lot have a definition of what hip hop is. The truth is no one is right and no one is wrong. I say hip hop is anything and everything you make it. The foundation of hip hop was built on being different, so in that sense it is about being different, seperating yourself from others by using rhymes and rhythms. This might not apply to everyone, but thats the greating about this genre. You dont have to follow what the next man does. Be yourself...... Thats the Definition of Hip-Hop.
